Good afternoon my beauties. It is breathtaking here in sunny Alberta. The snow is deep and a shade of white that isn't found in your colour box, it hurts your eyes to look. Everything appears like a picture card. This is what they came for - the people who came west - the endless grey sky and land that seems to go on forever. Then they got out of their covered wagon and froze their pioneer asses off. Cold, cold, cold - thirty below zero.
Sunday I went to the Christmas Farmer's Market. Despite the wintery conditions I stuck my lily-white face out the door and prepared to meet the people. I had a grand time. Of course, I had to compete with the knitted barbie toilet paper holders and all the precious grey haired ladies. What will become of all those groovey items that are created from non-natural fiber. I don't want to buy them but I don't want them to disappear. People who can knit a handy tote from plastic grocery bags are probably good to have around.
Anyway I could talk about my passion for senior crafters forever but the show must go on. I had a great sale. My table was back to back with the enthusiastic lady selling knives. I was afeared most of the afternoon. Her carrot demonstrations were practically animated. She sold me a completely unless $19 item on the promise it would sharpen my scissors. I thought she was telling the truth. She was wearing an apron and looked as sharp as her knives. Well the moral of this wee tale - opportunities for disappointment are everywhere and they cost $19.
Much later......
Well, it is almost Christmas. I'm almost ready. I have almost all of the gifts bought and wrapped. I'm almost relaxed. I'll wrap up this post and take a wee break over the holiday. During which - I have to figure out how to be a more consistent blogger. I think about writing and the blog all the time. Fear keeps me from posting projects, I must work on that too. I also have to be brave enough to put things in my etsy store. I must be a better businesswoman and strive to be a bit more organized. I don't think I can express how much this little school project means to me and how many ideas I have but first things first. So come on, gather up your fears and put them in airtight container, we'll head somewhere where you can leave that bundle. Everyone hold my hand and let's make our way through the turney bits.
Here are some tags I made. My lovely, practically famous friend Karen photoed them.
Cheers,
Bev

Christmas, Christmas, Merry Merry Christmas, Merry Merry Christmas, Christmas, Christmas.....I could use those LOVELY tags right this minute...Can you get them to me by tonight?
ReplyDeleteSo here in Nova Scotia it is 1:23am January 1, 2010...so that's 01012010 ... cool. Of course, in Alberta it is 10:23pm and you have 1 1/2 hours to take off. I'm thinking I might have to start a BRAND NEW PROJECT!!!! because it's a BRAND NEW YEAR!!!! Can you give me some ideas please? Something to get me through the rest of chilly winter.
ReplyDeleteOkay, this is boring....please put something new on here even if you have to copy it from an inspirational book...or I could write something ?!
ReplyDeleteI just talked to the entrepreneurial proprietor of this paperie and she says hi. She gave her permission for me to post another comment on her blog...I think. She has been busy conducting classes but can see the light at the end of the tunnel and our eager faces and will soon be able to devote quality time to the rest of us that need her attention and positive vibes. .... By the way, we have like 4 feet of snow here in Shelburne, Nova Scotia and "they" are calling for me this weekend.
ReplyDelete...I mean "they" are calling for MORE (not "me") this weekend... No one is calling for me that I can hear.
ReplyDeleteHello Bevy's people. I stayed up until 2:30 last night watching Haiti updates. I wish I could go help but I would probably just be another person eating their food, drinking their water and taking up shelter space. I think I could help with information collection and communication thereof (I picture going from place to place taking names and noting search sights and what is needed) but it sounds like even the doctors can't get the meds they need and they are sending their requests all over the world via TV. It's SO frustrating. However,as one person said yesterday, the Haitians are not giving up hope so we better not dare to either.
ReplyDeleteThank you Bev for providing a blog spot for my comments.
Good evening. Now is the time when all good women must come to the aid of the party....how about some comments 5 fellow followers?
ReplyDelete...by the way, when it says "Your post could not be commented"...or wait, I mean "Your comment could not be posted" just click the "Post Comment" button again and it works. :) sometimes.
ReplyDeletePants on the ground; pants on the ground; looking like a fool with your pants on the ground....
ReplyDeleteCan't decide whether to watch the Waltons or go to the new sewer plant meeting....my life is just one tough decision after another.
ReplyDeleteBeing the responsible citizen that I am I chose the sewer plant meeting...turns out it was about being hooked up to "clean" town water versus the well in our backyard...I'm not sold on it...about 19 years ago I had an allergic reaction to all the chemicals they dumped in the town water that was hooked up to the apartment we lived in at the time. About 5 years after that I attended an environmental seminar where they described the symptoms workers in a chemical plant got from exposure to the crap...the symptoms were the same as mine...only much much worse and permanent of course. As I've already said... CRAP!
ReplyDeleteTime to write on my blog....it's a blizzard here today and I know it doesn't go below the freezing mark like your Alberta but it's COLD no matter what. I can't seem to catch up on my laundry - too many man size pairs of jeans and thick socks. That'is it for now!

ReplyDeleteGooden Morgen: Beautiful sunny day but at least 10 below. Snow all around. I am pretending I live in Quebec. For some reason if I lived there I would think, it is a very cold day, I can just hibernate inside my house and not move around much so as to conserve energy. But because I live in Nova Scotia which is supposedly not as frigid it just means business as usual (with a little scraping of the windshield should I need to do something or get something outside the perimeter. Chloe the dog has found one little spot of sun to lay in...we don't have much southern exposure here what with the neighbor's house on top of us. I suppose my neighbor to the north says the same thing about me.:) Moral of the story...have empathy.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Kim: Try just pushing "Post Comment" over and over again....
ReplyDeleteand I just found out there'a a place called "blogger.com" that give instructions..haven't been there myself...I'll let you go first. :)
